I had virtually zero understanding of the needle therapy and stumbled across it by accident. After reading hours of reviews although still a bit skeptical I went ahead and ordered the 1.0mm. The concept here is that as the device rolls along the skin, these needles penetrate the upper layers of skin producing thousands of tiny puncture marks in the skin to create a controlled injury underneath the skin’s surface, thereby inducing the body to respond by producing more collagen in that area. The skin plumps and thickens in response to the stimulus thus reducing fine lines, scars and stretch marks. Now, common sense did step up to the plate for me on the cleanliness and sterilization issues. Wash your face and any other part of your body that will be treated as well as your hands and work area. I put my hair back in a ponytail away from my face. Remember, you are creating open wounds albeit very tiny they are still susceptible to infection. I followed some instructions I found on-line that seemed to make the most sense considering the ones that came with the unit were minimal and uninformed. I steamed my face over a pan of boiling water slightly just prior to rolling to open my pores. I then ran the roller over my skin several times first across and then up and down. I don’t go back and forth but if you do, Lift the dermaroller slightly after each forward movement This ensures that you will not hit the same hole repeatedly. Do not press too hard as it is not necessary and the needles will only go as far as their length. As a general guide, roll it over the area to be treated 8-10 times or 2~3 minutes. I did my first session in the morning and followed with Pure Hyaluronic Acid which I bought through Amazon for $14. My skin had the sensation of a mild sunburn and slight reddening that went away after a few hours. The pain level during the procedure was tolerable and I didn’t feel the need for numbing cream or anesthetic. Later that evening after my common sense retired I decided to go again and this time I would treat my arms, top and under, thighs and tummy plus my face again. Hey, the more the better right? Wrong… IT IS NOT RECOMMENDED TO NEEDLE EVERY DAY. TREATING YOUR SKIN BEFORE IT HAS HAD TIME TO HEAL WILL ONLY REOPEN THE WOUNDS AND INTERFERE WITH THE HEALING PROCESS. Then to add insult to injury, I followed up with a big slather of Retin-A cream. That’s not a good idea considering the pores are opened up and basically raw and Retin-A being acidic well, burns…. really bad. The next morning I found most of my body pretty much back to normal but my poor face was puffy, red and pissed and remained that way for two days. However, I have noticed a remarkable improvement in skin tone and the lines on my face are smoother especially the smile or joker lines. I have a few sun spots on my forearms as well and they are considerably lighter and smaller with only two treatments. I am convinced that Micro-needling truly helps minimize wrinkles and scarring and will continue this therapy with great anticipation in reaping it’s benefits over a longer period of time.

NOTE: Don’t forget to thoroughly disinfect the dermaroller after each use.
You can boil water, remove from heat and place the dermaroller in the water. Leave it for a few minutes then allow it to air dry on clean paper towels. Make sure it is completely dry and completely cool before using it or before putting it back in the protective container it comes with. Do not use a metal or copper pot, only glass or porcelain.
    Or,
liquid Household Bleach. 1/2 a teaspoon of bleach in a 2 quart pot filled with hot water will help keep your dermaroller germ free. Allow it to soak for at least 10 minutes. Remove and rinse thoroughly under hot, running water. NEVER SHARE YOUR DERMAROLLER.

    UPDATE: 10/24-13
It’s now two days after my third needle treatment and I am continually amazed at the rate my skin seems to be rejuvenating. The sun spots on my arms became a bit flaky but since have virtually disappeared. I also experienced some dry patches around my forearms and where my pants hug my waist but nothing drastic. I am comfortable with needling every 7-8 days but it varies with each individual and how fast or slow you heal. I am most pleased with the affect this procedure is having on my jowls and joker (smile) lines. I am seeing a noticeable change daily. My husband asked me the other day if I did anything different to my hair because something looked different in a good way. (that’s 20 yrs of marriage for you, it took me a two weeks to notice he had shaved off his beard last year). Anyway, I cannot stress enough that needling for me is truly helping reverse the hands of time and I am so thankful I stumbled across this site.

    UPDATE: 12/07-13
I am seeing positive results daily! Jowls and joker lines are firming and lifting, skin tone is radiant. Minor scars on my face that I have had since I was a child are…

I wasn’t too sure about this – poking my skin with needles, but it does work! You definitely cannot beat the price- that alone makes it worth a try. It’s not painful, I was a little worried about that. But do it LIGHTLY over your skin – you don’t puncture the skin with it, and you shouldn’t bleed. I read about tapping your skin to get the blood moving in your skin, and I had been doing that, didn’t see any overwhelming results, but did see improvement. Increased circulation is supposed to improve oxygen to the cells, which helps the health of your skin. This works much better than just patting your skin because you can stimulate all areas of your face. When oxygen gets to the skin cells, it helps promote collagen production. I don’t know about that, but it has improved my skin. It has helped with my breakouts, clearing them up, and has help reduce the scars from past breakouts. My face is very red after, and you do need to let your skin recover since you are poking it. I use a great skin care product Bel Essence Anti Aging Treatment – Intensive All Natural Anti-Wrinkle, Facial Lift Skin Care Formula – 1.5oz that soothes my face and the all natural ingredients (they call it nutrition) have a great effect on my skin. I found that after using the roller, the moisturizer is absorbed better, so my skin looks better. I checked out the cream’s website and found out that it contains nutrients that are the building blocks of collagen and contains the vitamins that promote collagen production, so I was really excited about using both to make my skin firmer. I was not disappointed! After a month, the little lines that were starting to creep up on my face were gone, and my skin is softer and firmer than before. I’m hooked.

Just remember, GENTLE does the trick. Wash your skin well with a cleanser after so that the dirt and grime disturbed by the roller is removed, and then use the anti-aging cream. Can’t beat it. I noticed better results after a month, the combination of the cream and the roller firmed up my skin and the cream makes my skin brighter and softer. Love it.

YOUTH in a ROLLER Not in a BOTTLE… HOW WEIRD! but it WORKS!, June 30, 2013

I “had” acne surface scars (not pitted), uneven skin tone, dark circles under my eyes, crows feet, frown lines and a few forehead and brow wrinkles that I couldn’t stand. WOW! This roller is working. It actually is smoothing my skin and my dark circles under my eyes have tremendously faded (yes, I lightly roll under my eyes too).

HALLELUJAH I didn’t have to pay a fortune to get results. It’s very simple to do yourself. I could actually go without foundation now.

After you use the roller your skin absorbs what ever you put on it 100 times more so be careful what you put on your face after you roll. If you have allergies or sensitivities… I suggest you don’t use anything new on your face after you roll, especially if you have never used the moisturizer or serum before.

    My Advice is:

    * Watch Micro needling or Derma Roller YouTube Videos for directions on how to roll… also further research the internet.

    * Sterilize the roller by dipping it into Rubbing Alcohol every time you use it.

    * Start out slow to be sure you have no side effects, don’t push the roller hard, roll lightly back and forth, there should not be any blood or marks, your face should only turn pink and look like a sunburn afterwards, you may hear skin popping noise from the needles piercing (that’s normal, mostly this happens on the forehead), face will stay pink less then 8 hours. Day 1- expect slight swelling (only you know your face is swollen, not bad). Day 2 -face “starts” to go back to normal. Day 3 – face will feel better and you will see the “GLOW”. Like everything else there could be side effects depending on your skin type so start slow and see how your skin type deals with it. I roll once a week and that works well for me. Estheticians say you should only roll once a month, people here on Amazon and YouTube roll anywhere from 3x’s a week to once a month. Everyone is different at healing and we do not all heal in the same amount of time. It is a fact you have to give your skin time to regenerate collagen before rolling again so you get good results.

    * Don’t expect immediate results. It takes time before you see results.

    * Use sunscreen!

Youth in a roller! who knew it would be from a roller and not a bottle…..Fabulous!

    Happy Rolling Ladies!!!!!
